Brief Bio

I have an academic experience of over twelve years and I am involved in research and practitioner training in the Social Enterprise space since 2014. Currently I am Director – Social Impact Advisory, Social Audit Network India - a practice in social sector audits and impact assessment. I am also a Resident Mentor with the Entrepreneurship Centre at IIM Bangalore and I mentor, train and support the Social Cohort. I also work with The Nudge Foundation in mentoring the incubation and acceleration program. I am an empaneled social auditor with the Social Audit Network, India. I also served as a partner and India Program Director at Virtue Ventures LLC) – a US based consultancy in social enterprise and development and GrassrootsU – a social enterprise education initiative from Oct 2014 till April 2017. I curate and develop academic and practitioner programs in Social Enterprise Education for international students/practitioners in India.

In my current role as Head of the Social Impact Advisory, I am responsible for creating the practice, identifying clients and leading the strategic plan for the practice. I represent the advisory and the network in consortiums, conferences and meetings. In my role in the Social Audit Network, I am also Master Trainer for the Masterclass in Social Audit. Along with members of the Audit Network, I also help design new modules in Social Impact Practitioners, Needs Assessment and Monitoring and Evaluation templates. As Resident Mentor at NSRCEL - the Entrepreneurship and Incubation Centre at IIM Bangalore. I work closely with the Social Cohort. My role includes screening, selection and training the social cohort incubatees. As a mentor, I work on the Impact Assessment Metrics and help the incubatees streamline their outcomes and impact indicators.

I was Senior Project Scientist at the Syndicate Bank Entrepreneurship Research and Training Centre at IIT Kanpur from Mar 2015 to Sept 2015. I was Associate Professor & Area Chairperson of Economics and Strategy at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad for three years (2011-14). Prior to joining IMT, I was an Assistant Professor at IBS Hyderabad for five years (2006-11). I have taught courses in Economics, Entrepreneurship Development, Business Strategy, International Business, International Finance and Trade, Managerial Economics and Macro Economics and Business Environment. My research interests include Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, International Business, Family Business and Entrepreneurship Education.

Prior to my career in Academics, I was a journalist with the UNI (Delhi & Trivandrum). I was a Visiting Scholar at the Martin J Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University in New York, USA during 2005-06 (12 months) and later at the Globelics Academy, IST Technical University, Lisbon, Portugal (May 2007) as part of my PhD program. My doctoral dissertation titled "Innovative Capacity and Knowledge Spillovers – a cross country analysis" was from the ICFAI University in the year 2009. I have a Masters Degree in Analytical Economics from the University of Kerala (1999-2001). I was a Gold Medalist in the Masters Program at the University and also the Gold Medalist in the Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. My undergraduate degree is in Economics (1996-99) from the University of Mumbai.
